MAKERSPACE CLUB
Students who are interested in design, creation, and technology will enjoy Makerspace Club. Each meeting has both planned activities as well as open sessions for students to create and build various projects. We use both high and low tech items such as the iPads for coding and Legos for building. We also have a Sphero, Snap Circuits, and Design Challenge games. We are always looking for other projects to do.
BOOK CLUB
If you love reading, discussing and getting excited about books, our club is for you! In Book Club, you are surrounded by people who love to read and enjoy discussing great books together. You choose your books, you choose your group, and you choose the pace. Join us in book club to learn about all the great new books out there for you to enjoy.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
In Photography Club, students have learned about a couple of important guidelines. First, students explored the Rule of Thirds. They were exposed to several examples of the use of this principle, and they were given a chance to practice it themselves. While the Rule of Thirds is effective in some photos, students found that in others, it is best to "Fill the Frame" with their subject in order to bring out its important features. Students looked at samples and also practiced this principle. In the next month, students will explore photo editing and experiment with how different edits can impact their final pictures.
CHESS CLUB - 6th, 7th & 8th Grades
Whether you have never played chess before or you are an expert, this is the club for you. We will meet after school and learn the exciting game of chess.
WRITING CLUB
Students interested in writing, both creatively and journalistically, should consider joining Writing Club! The Writing Club puts out two school newspapers each year filled with interesting interviews, articles, and reviews. Writing Club members also get to participate in many different fun and creative writing activities and have the opportunity to work on personal writing. It’s a great way to find time to write, and to share your work with other students who also enjoy writing. Writing club is open to all grade levels. Please see Ms. Bachmann in room 272 with questions.
ART CLUB
Art Club is open to all grades and there is no cost. At each meeting we will be completing a unique art project that the students can take home. Some projects may take more than one meeting. If you have any questions please contact Sarah Warren at swarren@gpsne.org.
